This week was all about Erasmus – literally! Trips and journeys abroad were being promoted in every way possible. See for yourselves!
Wednesday – Thursday, May 9th – 10th. As Wielkie Grillowanie (International Barbecue) attracted Polish and foreign students from all over Poznań, we couldn’t miss it either! The ESN UAM Poznań stand offered a special quiz for the 20th anniversary of the Erasmus programme, which quickly determined who was held the greatest amount knowledge about student exchanges. The winners received special ‘Erasmus’ prizes sponsored by the University of Adam Mickiewicz, and the Erasmus students received their consolation prizes in the form of university merch, which soon enough will become reminders of their adventurous time spent on Erasmus in Poznań. The students also created Dream Maps together, aka maps of places they would like to visit in the future or places they themselves come from. The whole thing wouldn’t have been the same without grilled potatoes (the Poznan “pyras” are almost official city symbols by now) and dancing, and anyone interested in a student exchange or internship could learn all and everything about the Erasmus programme from friendly members of our section. Those were some truly action-packed two days!
Friday, May 11th. On Friday we participated in the Travelling Evening – an evening devoted to talking about travels, led by Mateusz Koszela – an avid hitch-hiker and sports journalist in one. The meeting was focused on his latest, 7-month journey across picturesque areas of South America. Mateusz also told us about his original initiative called “Podaj piłkę dzieciom” (“Pass the ball to the kids”). The initiative aims to reach the largest number of children from developing countries and make them fall in love with sport, and in the longer run also deliver humanitarian aid. Our second guest, Rita Żuchowska , told us about her hitch-hiking adventures she starting having already from her youngest years! The participants of the meeting reminisce about it to this day and for that we have to thank our Newbie Marcin who, from the beginning to the very end, took care of the event to make sure it’s polished in every detail and ran smoothly with no surprises on the way. Good job!
