Wow, it was a week full of activity – and everyone could find something just for them!

Monday, May 14th. We began this week in a very active way. On Monday we gathered on a pitch next to the Zbyszko student house to play Bubble Football together. Players, “wearing” inflated balls, courageously tried to defend their goals just during a traditional football match – but, of course, we couldn’t do without some slip-ups! After the match, we decided to play other games, among which was “Last Man Standing”, where participants had to stay on their feet as long as they could (which was not an easy task!) while trying to knock over other players. At the end, we played our own version of American football. We had a great number of participants and an amazing audience the audience – thank you all for coming. Who knows, we might be soon repeating the game!

Thursday, May 17th. Last Thursday we took our foreign friends to the soup kitchen for people in need at Łąkowa Street once again. Amazing nun Leopolda greeted us while her positive energy struck us from the first minute. We helped her in giving out warm meals and sandwiches made by kids from the nearby school. At the end we took a photo with „the flying nun”. But wait, why „flying”? We found out nun Leopolda was the one who rode a bike down the hill in Spain at the speed of over 60 km per hour, without a helmet! The riding nun was recorded by a passing by car driver. The video was shared on the Internet and became very popular, from which moment nun Leopolda started to be called „the flying nun”. Now we’re even more proud we could share our enthusiasm with hers!

Saturday, May 19th. Such a night only happens once a year. Annually, cultural institutions of Poznań open their gates in late evening hours to draw in a number of people willing to visit specially prepared exhibitions during an event knows as the “Long Night of Museums”. The choice is seemingly endless, and this was also the case last Saturday evening when ESN-ers along with Erasmus students went on an art journey into the interiors of the National Museum, where we were showed around the rich collection of both Polish and European paintings. This late night outing let us discover the stories behind paintings from different epochs, and in-depth analysis of the artworks by our guide served as an aesthetic and intellectual challenge. At the same time, the museum held a silent disco party with the involvement of three DJ-s, three floors, and three different styles. Who would’ve thought Poznań could be so full of surprises…
