Unforgettable trip to Toruń, a kindergarten's visit, discovering the secrets of Erasmus and group watching the Market Imaginary movie – find all of this (and more) in this edition of ESN Weekly News!
March 17th-18th. Last weekend was very active – a fair number of students showed up at the break of dawn at the train station to embark on an unforgettable trip to the city of gingerbread and Nicolaus Copernicus. There were numerous attractions, starting from a guided city tour, through a visit to the Museum of Gingerbread (where anyone could show off their culinary skills and bake their own Toruń delicacy), up to a movie screening at the local planetarium. Our Erasmus students also stopped on their way to see the Old Town Museum, climbed on the main tower of the city and – goes without saying – did not miss out on any opportunity to enjoy their free time visiting local restaurants and clubs. Next stop: Wrocław, April 14th-15th! Are you ready?
March 20th. New week – new dose of #SociaLove! On Tuesday morning we welcomed Spring with children from our favourite kindergarten Mali Europejczycy (Little Europeans), where the little hosts, as always, welcomed their international guests with great enthusiasm and the never-ending drive to play together. A strong group of students representing Turkey, Germany and Spain were cheerfully spending time with their new little friends not only having fun, but also singing and… practising language skills! It was not easy to part with the youngsters, but that's why our next visit has already been planned – May will belong to them! Who’s on board?
March 20th. “The Erasmus Generation” – does it ring a bell? On Tuesday, an informational meeting about a student exchange in Spain was held. The meeting quickly turned into a workshop, where participants sitting in a circle had a chance to get to know each other, with the most popular questions being those about the fields of study and… journeys. Everyone could show off their language skills, find out the meaning of the famous “fiesta, siesta and mañana” and get behind the scenes of the Spanish spirit through the stories and anecdotes of more experienced Erasmus travelers, who provided answers to all of their burning questions. No more doubts!
Wednesday, March 21st. Wednesday was a fantastic day for all cinema lovers. They had a chance to visit the Brittany House and see a movie entitled Market Imaginary, which tells the fascinating story of one of Dakar's markets. The screening was also a great opportunity to improve their French skills, as the movie was displayed in its original version, with English subtitles additionally provided on the screen. The one-hour documentary brought a lot into the viewers’ lives by showing them the so far unknown side of Dakar!
Recruitment’s over! Although last week was also for us a time of especially intense work, our Erasmus students might have not noticed what was happening in our ESN section. On Monday an informational and recruitment meeting was held in the Jowita student house, where students from UAM (though not only) could find out all about Erasmus Student Network, its purpose and functions. A massive number of applicants reached us expressing their willingness to be a part of our organisation. After over two days of interviews we managed to choose the best candidates – though the decisions were not at all easy! From now on, our team will be supported by a strong group of over 30 trainees. We hope that they will find their ways in our daily work and you, dear Erasmus students, will soon meet the new faces of ESN!
April 14th – 15th – Trip to Wrocław
