Poznań's Festival of Eating at Home

During the global pandemic, small businesses collapse, and along with them, restaurants. We do not want to lose our favourite places, and together we can help them. Helping is easy, tasty, and fun! The only thing you have to do is order food. Let’s face it there is nothing better than good food delivered right to your door. In Poland, we have several applications to order meals, and one of them is głodny.pl, where you can find Poznański Festiwal Jedzenia w Domu (Poznan’s Festival of Eating at Home).

Food bloggers Mytujemy, głodny.pl, and several Poznan’s restaurants prepare special dishes to comfort you when needed. You can order food to your door or collect it personally in a chosen restaurant with all hygiene and safety standards. Below you have a list of, in my opinion, the best places and offers that can help you decide what to eat next.

 

  1. Pieczony Pierożek prepares a mix of 5 pierogi from the oven and 2 additional random flavours (Polish dumplings are the best on earth) 

  2. Tośka Cantine prepares Carmen set: loin roulade stuffed with spinach, homemade kopytka (potato dumplings), steamed vegetables, and gravy or vege version: lentil balls, string beans cooked with butter, herb’s sauce, and carrot cream 

  3. Massimiliano Ferre prepares kluski z dziurkią (Silesian potato dumplings) in carrot-pumpkin flavour witch sauce from dried tomatoes, served with sugar snap pea and black cumin seed 

  4. Bajgle Króla Jana (King Jan’s Bagels): prepares dish called porky: pork tenderloin in oriental marinate, carrot marinates in rice vinegar with fresh coriander, and shallot, with spicy sauce sambal, and salad. Served with shrimp crisps 

  5. Geranium Cafe Vege prepares vege bigos (loosely translated as hunter’s stew but it is a typical Polish dish of chopped meat of various kinds stewed with sauerkraut and shredded fresh cabbage. It is served hot and can be enriched with vegetables, spices or wine), Geranium Cafe vege version is with smoked tofu, baked potatoes, and marinated zucchini 

  6. Taco Jesus and its offer chili con carne: beef, beans, corn, vegetables, lime, coriander, tortilla chips 

  7. Byczyn prepares Spring Burger: chop from green peas and quinoa with garlic and dill, grilled turnip cabbage, sugar snap peas, fresh tomato and radish, shoot, salad, cottage cheese but made from sunflower seeds with chives, horseradish sauce (horseradish is Polish wasabi) and light roll, served with fried broad bean and peanuts

  8. Pizza Boyz and their offer of Crazy Mc n’ Cheese pizza: macaroni and cheese on cheddar, Mimolette and Grana Padano cheese with fries and jalapeno on top 

  9. Petit Paris Sołacz prepared full vege version called Bowl Petit Paris with falafel, tapenada (puréed or finely chopped olives, capers, and anchovies), marinated pepper, radish, zucchini, salad, and vinaigrette sauce 

  10. Kyoaki prepares salmon burger with avocado in tempura, marinated ginger, red onion, and mayo sauce, serve in butter roll 

 

The list consists of some Polish dishes, but with a modern twist and cuisines from all around the world. The quarantine does not stop us, you can always travel from your couch. As you can see, there is more than enough to choose from, and it is not all. The total number of restaurants that participate in Poznański Festiwal Jedzenia w Domu estimates around 25. Eat well, enjoy it, and be safe!
