To feel like a star on a red carpet for just a moment, just imagine, show starts to heat up with the two hosts at the helm, the applause coming from the audience, and higher and higher bets. In all this chaos there is still one common goal, to help the children.

The event “Erasmus Date Auction” attracted not only many international students but also members of ESN UAM Poznan. After the presentation of the sponsors and explaining of the rules, hosts introduced the most important part of the ceremony, the auction itself.

17 people presented themselves on the runway. With every other model, the atmosphere got tenser and tenser. But at the same time, the prices got higher and higher. They fluctuated between 40 and 140 zl. After the auction vouchers were picked out for the dates. There were a variety of coupons; for a coffee, a cake, or a full-blown date at a burger joint. There was also something for the fans of active lifestyles, tickets to a roller rink or a climbing wall. All the dates were worth at least twice the price of admission. For the lucky person that paid the most, there was a surprise, a ticket for two to a flight simulator.

The whole thing was advertised greatly. A few reporters appeared at the Havana club, including the ones from TVP and Radio Eska. The biggest challenge, however, was finding a sufficient number of sponsors, who funded all the great prizes.

Organizers, which this year were exclusively members of the ESN UAM Poznan, got together a few other attractions, not counting the auction. During the brakes, there was a very special someone playing on stage, frontman of a band called Fink Tree Migus Adamczewski. If somebody forgot the cash, they could use that short break and go to an ATM to withdraw some. Fantastic music and the possibility to talk to the models before their presentation got the whole ball rolling even more.

The whole event showed beautifully the bond between the international students and the members of ESN UAM Poznan. It was the main reason for their coming to the club at the Old Square. The openness on both sides caused the time spent there to be littered with interesting experiences and allowed us to look closely at the ins and outs of ESN UAM Poznan.

But hanging out and having fun together weren’t the only goals of said auction. What counted the most were the children. The money raised for helping the daycare “Plomyczek” amounted to 2080 zl. The money is supposed to go towards buying a projector and a fridge, which are at present the most pressing needs. But the help doesn’t end there. You can still bring food, crayons or other things to the ESN UAM Poznan office (ul. Swiety Marcin 78, p.432). Every little bit can help these poor children. One gift is all it takes to open your heart up.
